DBS Policy

This DBS Policy has been designed for children’s homes to support full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the associated Children’s Homes Quality Standards, and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) requirements for safer recruitment.

The policy provides clear, practical guidance for managers and staff on DBS checks, including when checks are required, the level of checks needed, and the process for obtaining and renewing DBS disclosures. It outlines responsibilities for verifying identity, assessing suitability, managing disclosures and risk, and ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are appropriately addressed. The policy emphasises the importance of safer recruitment, ongoing monitoring, confidentiality, and maintaining accurate records to protect children and young people.
