Gift Giving and Receiving Policy
This Gift Giving and Receiving Policy has been designed for children’s homes to support full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the associated Children’s Homes Quality Standards.
The policy provides clear, practical guidance for staff on appropriate and professional practice relating to giving and receiving gifts with children, young people, families and external professionals. It outlines expectations for boundaries, consent, equality and fairness, and sets out when gift giving is appropriate, when it is not, and how to record and report any gifts received or offered. The policy emphasises safeguarding, avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining transparency, and ensuring that all decisions are in the best interests of the child or young person.
These documents are guidance only and must be adapted to reflect each home’s individual practices. Providers are responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with legislation, regulations, and Ofsted expectations.
