Infection Control Policy
This Infection Control Policy has been designed to support full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the associated Children’s Homes Quality Standards, along with relevant health and safety legislation.
The policy provides clear, practical guidance for staff on preventing, controlling and managing infection risks to protect the health and wellbeing of children, young people, staff and visitors. It outlines procedures for hygiene, handwashing, cleaning, waste disposal, laundry, food safety, and managing outbreaks or suspected infections. The policy also includes guidance on reporting, isolation where necessary, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), staff training, and maintaining a safe environment in line with public health guidance.
These documents are guidance only and must be adapted to reflect each home’s individual practices. Providers are responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with legislation, regulations, and Ofsted expectations.
