Health & Safety Policy and Procedures
This Health & Safety Policy and Procedures document has been designed for children’s homes to support full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the associated Children’s Homes Quality Standards, and relevant health and safety legislation.
The policy provides clear, practical guidance for staff and managers on maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children, young people, staff and visitors. It outlines responsibilities for risk assessment, accident and incident reporting, fire safety, first aid, infection control, safe handling of hazardous substances, premises safety, and maintenance of equipment. The procedures set out how to identify hazards, reduce risks, and respond to emergencies, ensuring that all actions are recorded, reviewed and monitored to promote safety and wellbeing at all times.
These documents are guidance only and must be adapted to reflect each home’s individual practices. Providers are responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with legislation, regulations, and Ofsted expectations.
