Missing from Care Policy

This Missing from Care Policy has been designed to support full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the associated Children’s Homes Quality Standards.

The policy provides clear, practical guidance for staff on preventing, responding to and managing incidents when a child or young person is absent from the home without permission. It outlines procedures for risk assessment, reporting, escalation and communication with relevant agencies, families and the child or young person. The policy emphasises safeguarding, prompt action, recording, debriefing and learning, and aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person throughout the incident.
